The theme of the ECF Award for Culture this year is "Democracy needs imagination."
The prize is dedicated to cultural initiatives that make a democratic imagination possible and invite social action.
The ECF distinguishes two laureates with the ECF Award for Culture 2019 on the recommendation of an independent jury.
The laureates are Ahdaf Soueif (Cairo / London) and City of Women Festival (Ljubljana).
